This is by far one of the best animated explainer videos that I’ve ever come across, and while it does a great job at explaining the product (Panorama 9) and everything it has to offer, it’s also incredibly fun to watch.

Even though it is technically an advertisement, the 8-bit art direction, lovely visuals, retro soundtrack, and high-energy narrator all come together to make this one of the best examples of how to knock explainer videos straight out of the park.

3. CrazyEgg video by Demo Duck

Demo Duck is quickly becoming one of the most popular and best explainer video companies around, and best explainer videosone of the brand’s best and most effective video advertisements to date is one that was created for CrazyEgg.

Right off the bat, the video shows large blocks of text that explains the product that’s talked about throughout the video. The entire clip is loaded with friendly and fun animations, a voice-over actor that keeps thing invigorating, and real examples/demos of the CrazyEgg product that’s being promoted here.

The video as a whole may not be quite as fun as the IT-MAN one above, but it still does an incredibly good job at explaining a product and telling its targeted demographic why they should be interested in it. At the end of the day, that’s the most important thing.

2. Spotify launch video

It’s hard to believe that Spotify has ben around for more than a decade at this point in time, and with so much time that’s passed, you might have forgotten the insanely awesome explainer video the company rolled out when the service first launched in the United States.

The video is only a little over a minute long in length, and Spotify made an ingenious move by not having any sort of voice-over during the video. Instead, the company used striking, bold visuals and text to explain the service with an upbeat tune playing in the background.

An animated drummer is the first thing that you see, and it’s a great visual to easily make it known that you’re watching a video about something that has to do with music.

It’s a rather simple and clean video, and while some may see it as a bit too simplistic, I actually see this as a strong point for Spotify. They said what they wanted to say, and they did so in a way that was incredibly effective with its core demographic.

Plus, who doesn’t like listening to some big-band drums and trumpets while learning about a new product?

1. Airbnb

For startups, having a solid explainer video is insurmountably important. This was true of Airbnb when it first launched, and the company absolutely killed it by creating one of the best startup explainer videos that I’ve ever seen.

This video was crafted by Adam Lisagor, and it melds together both real-life actors and helpful animations in a way that makes the video insanely engaging.

All 4 of these clips are prime examples of what you should try to model your own explainer video after, and while you don’t want to steal or copy what someone else has already done, there’s nothing wrong with taking some inspiration from things that have already proven to work really, really well.
